PLEASE READ: DMS CLOSING AFTER 35 YEARS
As we embark on a time of ‘Learning from Home,’ our aim is to create a Montessori-based framework that serves our students while supporting parents as we all adapt to a different daily routine. It is important to us that the children’s activity during this time be enjoyable, thoughtful, challenging, and rewarding. Replicating what happens in our classrooms is not something we can achieve during this period. Our goal is to work in collaboration with families to keep alive the culture of learning that is unique to Montessori and provide families with support and activities that match the developmental needs and characteristics of the child.
Below is a link to our Learning From Home Guide where you will find recommended schedules for your child’s day, suggested activities and guidelines for preparing your environment. We encourage you to be consistent in your routine and foster your child’s growing independence by preparing a space for him to work and play.
Although our campuses will be closed, administrators and teachers will be available to respond to any thoughts or concerns M-F by email. If you do email us, you can expect a response within 24 hours. Any message sent after 3 pm will be answered the next business day.
While the uncertainty of this unconventional situation may feel a bit unnerving, we are all in this together and we will get through this as a community. This extra time at home is necessary for the health and well being of our community, but also provides a rare and priceless opportunity to connect with our families more deeply without the added rush of normal day-to-day life. Please know that while we are physically at a distance, we are here for our DMS families as an avenue of support.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate these unique forms of education and communication during such an unprecedented situation.
