DMS Closing After 35 Years

Spread the love

Dear DMS Families,

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you that after over 35 years of serving children and their families in the Gwinnett Community, The Duluth Montessori School will permanently close its doors effective immediately.

While the effects of Covid-19 have destroyed many lives and businesses in its path, we remained hopeful and optimistic that we could weather this storm and come out even stronger on the other side.  We were faithful that a better day was coming and we would resume, perhaps a little differently than before for a while, but would resume nonetheless.

After reviewing the commitments for the school year that have come in through July, however, we realize that we will not have the enrollment necessary to move forward.  All efforts to remain afloat as a small business have  been exhausted and without the incoming tuition needed to sustain the school, remaining open is no longer possible.

The Duluth Montessori School is a family and you and your children have been part of this family even if only for a short time and not being there for you is the worst feeling of all.

This week we will begin the process of refunding tuition monies paid for the 2020-2021 school year.  Our hearts are breaking and we ask for your understanding as we work to ensure that your refund is mailed as soon as possible.

It has been our privilege to nurture your children in their development and we are so appreciative of the opportunity to be a part of their lives.  Parents, we end this letter by telling you that we wouldn’t have been able to be a school for so long without you and your continued support.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

With love and appreciation,

Edith, Phillip, Kelly, Traci, Paula, Ashley and the entire DMS Staff Family
